Privacy policy
Last updated Oct 26, 2026
GTA Pre-Con Watch follows the principles of Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We collect as little personal information as we can. Questions or requests go to the editor, [email protected], who is accountable for this policy.
What we collect and why
- Newsletter email address. If you subscribe, your email address is collected through our email provider, Kit, so we can send the weekly email you asked for. Kit also records when and how you subscribed and basic delivery data (for example, whether an email was delivered or opened). We use it only to send and improve the newsletter. You consent by subscribing and can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
- Emails you send us. If you email a tip, correction, legal notice or question, we receive your email address, name (if given) and whatever you include. We use it to respond, check and correct our information, and keep a record of corrections and legal notices.
- Technical data. Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and secure the site. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and reports aggregate visit counts without identifying you.
We do not sell personal information, do not use it for advertising, and do not publish tipster identities.
Cookies
This site does not set cookies and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking. If you submit the newsletter form and are taken to a Kit page, Kit’s own policies apply there.
Service providers and cross-border transfer
We use these processors, all based in the United States:
- Kit (Kit / ConvertKit): newsletter subscriptions and delivery.
- Google (Gmail): our email inbox at [email protected].
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security and optional cookieless analytics.
Because these providers store and process information in the United States and possibly other countries, your information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities there under local law. Each provider is bound by its own terms and privacy commitments.
Retention
- Newsletter addresses are kept while you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address, we remove it from our list within 30 days (Kit may keep a suppression record so you aren’t emailed again).
- Emails are kept as long as needed to deal with them, generally no more than 2 years. Correction and legal-notice records may be kept longer where needed to document what we changed and why.
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email the editor, [email protected] with the subject “Privacy request:”. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Safeguards and changes
We limit access to our inbox and subscriber list to the editor and use the providers’ security features. If we change this policy, we will update the date above.
